Onset Today screen with a large Log an attack button and headache days this month

MEET ONSET

Most headache apps want a form filled in while you can barely look at a screen. Onset saves an attack the moment you pick a severity, stays dark and still, and keeps everything on your iPhone. Free, with no subscription, trial, account or ads.

Two taps, then rest

Tap Log an attack, then tap how bad it is. It saves straight away. Symptoms, triggers and medication can be added later, or never.

Made for the bad moment

Warm dark colours with no blue light and no animation. Large text and big buttons you can hit with a thumb, half asleep.

The days that don’t fit a form

Log aura, prodrome or postdrome on a day with no pain. Record a daily level for constant or vestibular migraine. Backdate yesterday or last week. Nothing is closed for you.

Medication days, counted fairly

See how many days a month you used each medicine, next to published guideline figures for overuse. Preventives are never counted, because they are meant to be taken every day.

Air pressure from your own iPhone

Turn it on and Onset notes the barometer reading each time you log. The report shows the pressure when pain started and how often it had fallen or risen before. No weather service, no location.

A page for your doctor

Headache days per month, medication days per drug, how long attacks lasted and how bad they were. Export it as a PDF, or everything as a CSV.

QUESTIONS

About Onset.

Is Onset free?

Yes. Onset is free with no subscription, no trial, no in-app purchases and no ads.

How fast is it to log a migraine?

Two taps: Log an attack, then how bad it is. The entry is saved immediately. Everything else is optional.

Can I track aura or a migraine without pain?

Yes. You can log aura, prodrome or postdrome on a day with no pain, and record a daily level if your migraine is constant or vestibular.

Does it track medication overuse?

It counts how many days a month you used each medicine and shows that next to published guideline figures. Preventive medicines are not counted. It does not tell you what to take.

How does the air pressure feature work?

If you turn on Record air pressure, Onset reads your iPhone’s built-in barometer each time you log. It uses no weather service and no location, and the reading stays on your phone. It shows what happened; it does not forecast.

Can I share my diary with my doctor?

Yes. The Report screen exports a PDF with headache days, medication days and attack details. You can also export everything as a CSV.

Where is my data stored?

Only on your iPhone. There is no account, no server and no analytics, and nothing is sent to us or anyone else.

Is Onset medical advice?

No. Onset records what you tell it. It does not diagnose, predict or treat migraine. If a headache is sudden and severe, or comes with weakness, confusion or a stiff neck, contact a doctor or emergency services.
